Challenge:

Using Sharepoint to connect geographically distributed teams and share best practice

One of the world's largest, global energy companies required to build a united, user community, from previously isolated teams.  The aim - to increase safety practices through improved communication and best-practice, information sharing.

Solution:

  1. Creation of a SharePoint website to house a secure Global Document Library, Safety Flashes, Industry Safety Standards, Image Library, Discussion Threads and Surveys.
  2. Gathering of Contacts, Announcements, Web links and Distribution lists.
  3. Training on Outlook Alert integration with SharePoint.
  4. Creation of numerous templates, outlining the information to be shared on a regular basis.
  5. Creation of World Map, linking the responsible people with current work being carried out in these areas.
  6. Creation of logo design, email signature, stickers and other marketing material to support the site.

Results:

After just one year of working, this team is now globally recognised and consulted on safety issues, ensuring an unparalleled safety record for the company. The best-practice information-sharing is now being rolled out across other technical authorities in that team.
