Challenge:
Improving global internal communication with SharePoint 2007
Our client, a global, petroleum consultancy, who provide life-of-field services and development solutions to offshore energy producers worldwide, required their 750 new users to use Microsoft SharePoint 2007 to improve communication and information-flow across the organisation.
Solution:
- Develop a communications campaign to promote the benefits of SharePoint technologies and deliver using avariety of media.
- SuperUser campaign
- Identify 15 SuperUsers from across the business
- Run weekly SuperUser workshops
- Devise a project plan with the teams to create global intranet SharePoint solutions relevant to the majority of users, eg. holiday requests with approval workflow, eliminating current paper-based methods.
- Incorporate SQL databases into InfoPath forms for faster turnaround of SharePoint application solutions.
Results:
The corporate intranet was successfully transferred to the SharePoint platform within two months of Appetite being engaged.
Employees were able to share information around the organisation quickly and easily. Strategy teams of confident users were set up to assist others with their global collaboration designs and implementation.
SharePoint is a new technology for us and requires a new way of working. We needed best-practice guidance on how to transfer our corporate internet to this new platform.
