By connecting users in new ways, Lync allows people to communicate with colleagues and clients by telephone, email, text chat, video calls and desktop and single application sharing. The technology also makes organising and running conference calls much easier with rich presence allowing colleagues to see where individuals are and decide how best to make contact. Phone calls can also be made free of charge between companies using Lync.
